Keyword Intent Why
This is pattern matching on the words in the keyword, not a model of searcher psychology. It looks for common modifiers ("buy", "best", "how to", "login", and similar) the same way an experienced SEO would eyeball a keyword list. Short, unmodified queries like "running shoes" get marked Uncertain rather than a forced guess, since the real intent behind a bare keyword often depends on context this tool can't see. Always sanity-check against the actual Google results page for anything you're about to build content around.

Intent shifts as your rankings change

A keyword can drift toward commercial or transactional intent over time as the SERP evolves. Weeklift's weekly digest flags rising and losing keywords from your real Search Console data, so shifts get caught as they happen.

How are the four intent types defined?

Where a keyword matches more than one pattern, this tool picks the higher-intent match first (transactional over commercial over navigational over informational), since that's usually the more useful signal for deciding what kind of page to build.
