HTML containing <link rel="alternate" hreflang="..."> tags

Works with a handful of loose tags or a whole pasted page, only <link rel="alternate" hreflang> tags are read.

This checks syntax and codes within the tags you paste, not reciprocity across pages. Google's guidelines expect every page in a hreflang group to link back to every other page in the group, including itself, and running in a browser this tool can't fetch other URLs to confirm that (the same cross-origin restriction that affects most link-checking tools). It validates that each tag you've pasted has a real ISO language code, a real ISO region code if one is present, a valid href, and no duplicates or conflicting x-default entries.

What does this tool check?

Valid language code: the part before any dash must be a real ISO 639-1 code, like "en" or "es", not "eng" or a made-up value.
Valid region code: if there's a dash, the part after it must be a real ISO 3166-1 region code, like "GB" or "MX". "en-UK" is a very common mistake, the correct code for the United Kingdom is GB, not UK.
A present, non-empty href: every tag needs one, and it should be an absolute URL.
Duplicate hreflang values: the same language/region code appearing on two different href targets.
x-default: at most one is expected. Having more than one is a conflict.
